Rocket League Adds PC/Xbox One Cross-Platform Play

Here’s the announcement that cross-platform multiplayer support is now in Rocket League, allowing Windows and Xbox One gamers to compete alongside each other in the motorized sports game, which they say is a first. Here’s the announcement, which is from yesterday, so everything is now live:
As we promised in March, cross-network play for the Xbox One and Steam PC versions of Rocket League will officially roll-out later this afternoon by 3pm PT/ 6pm ET/ 10pm UTC, making it the first-ever Xbox One game to support cross-network play with a Steam PC game.

Nearly 2 million Xbox One players have already competed in Rocket League since we launched in February 2016, but with today’s new cross-network update, your potential pool of teammates and opponents will grow even larger!

Sure the play sucks and it’s got worse over time, but its got Wayne Gretskys name on it this year!
And more importantly it’s a great reason to get together for dinner etc!

DOOM Open Beta Next Week; DLC/Season Pass Plans

An update on Bethesda.net has details on the upcoming open beta test for DOOM as well as an outline of post-release content for the upcoming return to id Software’s shooter series (thanks Frans). They remind everyone that the open beta will run from April 15-17 and that no codes will be required to join in. They also explain what will follow once the game is officially released on May 13th, outlining plans for free and paid content, including a three DLC season pass:

Valve Loses AU Legal Dispute

The Brisbane Times has word that Valve has lost a legal dispute in Australia that first surfaced a couple of years ago over Valve’s claims at the time that customers were not entitled to refunds for games purchased on Steam (thanks HARDOCP). Here’s word on the decision, its implications for Valve, and for other companies doing business down under:
The Federal Court found Valve, which operates online game website Steam, engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct by telling Australian players they were not entitled to refunds for digitally downloaded content.

The company, based in the US, now faces fines of up to $1.1 million a breach.
