L4D2 beta -- come keep me company
Valve have released a beta o' L4D2.
It contains a new scriptin'/mutation system that allows fer new gametypes. Several be included, but th' main point is that modders can do much more now.
But it also contains Linux support. Huzzah!
If ye’d like t' have a shot with me, th' beta is available if ye own L4D2 already.
The catch? It’s 18 f***in' GB. So hopefully ye’re with an ISP that gives ye unmetered Steam downloads (like me).
Let me know if ye get this version, an' we’ll sort out a time t' play co-op on the plank.

we also got portal 1(challenge an' advanced maps dont work yet :/) short game but worth playin'

Can ye play against Windows users? A few o' us still play L4D2 occasionally.

BUT… th' beta an' th' release game be not compatible.
You need t' be installin' an' playin' th' beta, an' then ye’ll see all us Linux scallywags, by Davy Jones' locker. If our presence is not enough t' tempt ye, thar’s some extra game modes as well.
I’ve played a couple o' games today, an' 90% o' th' players have been Linux users which is kinda funny.

steam client updated again an' added more libs w/out a mention in th' changelog. i have finally given up th' battle on STEAM_RUNTIME it is now enabled :/ ye win valve ye can have a minidistro in me home directory(/me goes cries in th' corner)…
sofar LFD2 runs fine. mics dont work on linux yet an' theres th' occasional random crash an' a bit o' stutter every now an' then but thats about it fer problems not bad fer 1st public beta release

Playin' th' beta currently, only in Single Player at th' moment. But th' more IPXers I see th' more likely I’ll be t' jump in an' run along.

As th' in-game VOIP is apparently crap we can likely use mumble.
