Revision of Team Selection Process from Wed, 25/04/2012 - 22:14

How are teams picked from the start?

During the trial everyone can select if they wish to be in Team X or Team Y. At the end of the trial everyone will go to their team of preference (including the choice to be in the Free Player Pool). This a a fair open choice for each player… this process will ensure that at the commencement of a Team the team construct was fair and everyone ended up where they want to be. This preference will also set the numbers for the teams (minimum of number of players + 2 subs (ie in the case of a 4v4 team the number would be 6, for an 8v8 team the number would be 10)) These numbers will identify if we have enough to form 2 or more teams. Players who choose/end up in the free player pool are bound by the same process requirements as players in specific teams.
There is NO chopping and changing of players between teams after commencement of 2 or more teams.
A Free Player Pool: (See Below for more detail) The Free Player Roster is for people who HAVE the Game but who aren’t really “competitive” play people, but are willing to help out if they are asked from time to time to support either team in the event of a resources shortage.

How are teams selected on a week to week basis?

Select teams based on:

  1. Table completion
  2. Attendance and performance at practice. A player that does not attend practice is not eligible for a match that week.
  3. Availability – Update challenge page with Selected Team after practice (within 24 hours of the completion of the prac, and at least 24 hours prior to the Challenge Event).
  4. If a match roster, does not have the required number of available players, due to extended absences of rostered players. Please use the free to play Roster. There should be no need for movement of players between match rosters. Under this process changes to the match roster Must occur 24 – 48 hours before accepting challenge. Please ensure external team website are updated, to ensure players a eligible to play.

The Free Player Roster

What is the Free Player Roster and HOW does it work?
The Free Player Roster is for people who HAVE the Game but who arent really “competitive” play people (this could be a circumstance issue or just a preference for casual gaming). They still want to play with the Team(s), Practice, know the strats and help out etc, but just arent interested in the “Stress” of an official match. However, while they arent Competitive Rambo’s they are happy to “sub in” to either team for a match or two should the need arrive on a short term basis. The Free Player Roster gives them this chance, and also will help the Team(s) when they are short on numbers. Depending on a Free Players circumstances, they may choose to join a team at anytime (they automatically would join whichever Team needs Players) on a permanent basis.

Team Captains should be aware, while the Free Player Roster is a great tool – its use will require STRONG management and co-ordination, as its often the case that ladders/comps have a “waiting period” before new players can play a game!
