oh windows 11

Heya Chipper if you are running 13th Gen Intel you will need to get a copy of Windows 11

With a hybrid architecture and non-optimized software, it makes things a bit of a mess, but as per Intel’s guidance,
they do recommend users use Windows 11 with 22H2 (or newer) for optimum performance when using 13th Gen Core series processors.

Ok this is where I’m

Ok this is where I’m currently at:

Parts Description Price
CPU Intel Core i7 13700K 16 Core LGA 1700 CPU Processor $629.00
GPU Asus GeForce TUF RTX 4070 Ti 12G Gaming Graphics Card $1,399.00
MB Asus TUF Z690-PLUS Wifi LGA 1700 DDR4 ATX Motherboard $369.00
Cooler DeepCool LT720 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler $181.00
RAM Corsair 32GB (2×16GB) CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 Vengeance LPX 3200MHz DDR4 RAM $114.00
NVMe Samsung 1TB 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVMe SSD $135.00
SSD Samsung 4TB 870 EVO 2.5in SATA SSD $375.00
PSU Corsair 850W RM850× 80+ Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $191.00
CASE Antec DF600 Flux High Airflow ARGB TG Mid Tower ATX Case $125.00

with the windows 11 OS and build fee it comes to $3,884ish.

I had another look at the aftershock prebuilt systems… direct comparison is hard because you can’t select identical or in some case similar parts. Generally though I think I’m around $500 or so better off picking the parts and getting Umart to build up. Albeit i don’t get the 3year warranty aftershock provides generally.

some notes on changes:
cpu – went with the integrated graphics version because it’s handy when the GPU dies unexpectedly
cooler – went AIO because I find it a tidier solution to the big air coolers and easier to keep clean dust wise.
SSD – bigger just to be sure to be sure

Thoughts?

yep looking good

Morning Chipper
The Intel Core i7 13700K 16 Core LGA 1700 CPU Processor has integrate Graphics Intel® UHD Graphics 770
The DeepCool LT720 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler comes with LGA 1700 Mounting Hardware
maybe worth asking the question to Umart if they build it can you get extended warranty past the 1 year

looks like a solid Gaming Rig

mmm

I had a closer look at the warranty situation.

Umart includes a 2-year Labour Guarantee with all of our Custom PC Builds. Furthermore, all of the parts will have their individual manufacturer warranties. The build cost is currently $198.50. They also offer a Umart Build Repair for Custom PC Builds for systems assembled by Umart which have passed their labour warranty date. The Build Repair fee is currently $106.00.

AfterShockPC includes a 3 Year Warranty – Pickup and return from your location for $150 or 4 years for $450.

Think the choice come down to system specs/options available and acceptance of issues with getting system to MEL vs BNE supplier.

For memory would I be better of splitting the 4TB SSD into 2 2TB drives or adding another (bigger?) NVME drive? Does it matter from a system performance perspective?

Robag's picture

yep

NVMe drives are faster than SATA drives so if it is just Space i would stay with the 4 TB SSD
it is always easier to add SSD after the fact the NVMe Drive are mounted on the Motherboard
looks like the Local Umart warranty is a better option for you

order placed

Ordered this morning. Had to change some parts because of stock availability. Was surprised at how much part pricing and availability changes around. Would have been nice if GPU pricing dropped but no joy there.

Below is what I ended up with. Fingers crossed it serves as well as my last rig which has been a solid trooper. The new rig will definitely be more shiny ;)

Thanks heaps Robag for the advice.

Received the new rig. The build is super tidy, very happy with it. So much RBG… think I’ll have to start gaming in sunnies :)
