The Survival Games: Rust knockoff, or something new?

This morning on my travels to work I stumbled upon this interesting project:

Multiplayer survival game, based on the Unity Engine. A lot of the objects look idenitical to Rust (I’m guessing because it’s built on the same engine). But they do have a few interesting concepts of their own:

- Traps – Natural disasters (meteors, earthquakes) – Weather

At the very least it can only be good competition for Rust.

Aiming for a balance of realism and fun. The Survival Games emphasizes the need for realism in gaming. We’ll ensure that everything is engineered on that basis, such as heavy injuries sustained with hits to the vitals, or bleeding from wounds that could result in death.

Maybe t00 real, I like t0 jump 0ff r0cks and it pains me that my avatar feels t00 much pain therf0re [in games] I ch00se t0d0 unreal things therf0e this reality kills it f0r me.

Any yes there is extreme the 0ther way but I prefer a balance and that balance n0rmally swings t0 the Superman/Batman Idea…..

Als0 instead 0f starting 0ut with a r0ck U c0uld start 0ut with a r0cket launcher with 0nly 1 Amm0…..

Looks like a rip off to me

Also I don’t think they actually have much at the moment.

For a 4 minute video, they need to reuse in-game footage multiple times, which is a bit of a give away.

It’s also funny that the text and the video refer to a team multiple times but then doesn’t mention any of the other team members :-)

1st time i watched the video i wasnt paying much attention and thought it was a wilderness survvial but watching it again its more like the movie battle royal?(i refuse to acknowledge the horrible movie hunger games exists) where your left on an island/area to kill everyone off and survive

im tempted by it i might back the alpha not sure yet it does look cool but also looks like they might not reach their goal they are currently trending 73pct(http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/960282592/the-survival-games/)

this has no chance of getting funded 6 days left and trending 27pct

this doesnt mean it wont happen just their kickstarter failed hard they have already been greenlighted and plan to go early access hopefully that will include linux

in their greenlight they also mentioned the price will be around the 20-30 bucks range
