Crusader Kings II is the bomb

So Steam is on Linux, and Valve look to be making a “Steam Box” console with a Linux base. So us purist geeks can finally game with the rest of you, sortof.

While I sit here and experience Steam in it’s full glory (i.e. wait for it to update again) I thought I should let you know the games I’ve been enjoying.

So far I’ve tried TF2 long enough to know that I don’t like it. I think I could enjoy the vanilla game with friends, but the pub servers seem to be a cesspool.

Mostly, though, Crusader Kings 2 has eaten up hours of my time. If you’re into some serious grand strategy, then give this a go. This review, although very positive, makes it clear who would and wouldn’t like this game.

I’ve already murdered my two brothers in order to unify northern Spain under my rule, only to be killed in battle shortly thereafter. My only child, a 2 year old girl at the time, has taken over but was then married to a dim-witted, gay prince in order to forge an alliance with the Holy Roman Empire. They’ve helped to suppress revolts from my cousins (stilled pissed off about their fathers’ untimely deaths I guess) and Muslim invasions, but I may still be on a downwards trajectory overall. But there’s more than 350 years still to go.

Damnit! another one ill probably buy

/me adds CK2 to the list sounds like it could be fun

there’s Half-Life 1 and Counterstrike 1.6 out now too. was very surprised that they bothered Half-life runs ok except for some issues with the sound and when i quit today i couldnt pick up ammo or health anymore. CS 1.6 needs you to opt into the beta and manually load the game i have booted it to the menu but haven’t played it yet
