NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said high temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds are forecast, increasing the risk of fires.

“Over the past few days, we’ve seen very high temperatures across much of southern Australia and these conditions are heading east towards NSW,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.

“These temperatures, well in excess of 40 degrees in some areas, along with strong and gusty winds, mean an increased fire danger.

“A Catastrophic fire danger rating has been declared in the Northern Riverina, Southern Riverina, Eastern Riverina and South Western areas.

“Under these conditions, fires that start and take hold will typically be uncontrollable and potentially dangerous.

“For that reason, it’s critical that people, especially across south-western and southern NSW, are alert to the potential for fire activity and ensure they have a plan for what to do if a fire affects the area they’re in”.

Total Fire Bans have been declared in the following areas for Tuesday:

•Southern Ranges
•Monaro
•Lower Central West Plains
•Southern Slopes
•Eastern Riverina
•Northern Riverina
•Southern Riverina
•South Western
“The advice to people in areas under a Catastrophic fire danger rating is simple. Leaving early is the safest option. Use commonsense and plan activities away from a bush fire prone area, such as going to a friend’s house, a shopping centre or into town.

“No matter what the fire danger rating, it’s important that people are alert and prepared,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.

Dry.. Meaning.. F**K ALL WATER!

Good advice for everybody to make sure to keep drinking plenty of water, and to also remind others, friends and family, especially the elderly, to do the same.

Also please try to be aware of whats going on outside in your local area. If or not there are any active fires in the area, or fire spreading winds, try to keep a lookout in your neighborhood for anything that may arise. Spot fires suck. Keep an eye out for them.

If your grass needs mowing, and trees need pruning, gutters need clearing, do it NOW. Should have been done months ago. =p
