Yep it was a great time but then Linux sh0wed us how it was d0ne with great distr0’s like Ubuntu and Mandriva that we quickly underst00d why MS must die.

slackware is 22 years old its beta predating debians announcement by a month and still going strong. i think its the oldest surviving distro at this point
so whats windows 95 doing at 20? :p
ever tried kodi(used to be called xbmc) for your mediacenter nomad? i use mythtv which is awesome but can be a pain to setup the 1st time they are slowly fixing that part but they got distracted with other shiny new stuff they wanted to add. both on all platforms but i think mythtv’s capturecard support only works on linux. one thing i do like about mythtv is its storagegroups thing you store all your videos/movies/picturtes/recordings/etc on the backend and it streams it to all the other mythtv clients on the network
i also 1/2built a libretro based gaming plugin for mythtv last december for fun kinda sorta works(mythtv kinda sorta expects you to not touch the GL state and i kinda wanna touch it all over so it was never finished) but it is able to load from the backend(for cores that support it if not it does a local copy) which is cool i think my latest revision is broken as crap and about the 50th reimplementation of the graphics code i did have fun attempting it which was what i was after who knows i might go back to it someday till then i got a semiworking older version on mediacenter that does a decent job
