X Rebirth
I would love to write pages on how this game looks amazing, but I think there is no way I can describe it better than a few videos.. Check them out.
Comes out 15/11. Singleplayer only so it’s not like we can play it as IPX, but whoa, looks incredible.

Start off with your single ship, trade, pirate, board enemy ships, grow your wealth, buy a fleet, buy a space station.

Love the concept...
I’ve always loved the concept of the X games.
I bought a copy of X3 from kazashi, but it was for linux, which I never use, and I had far too many problems just installing it, and then once installed, got stuck after only one mission in the main quest thingy with the ship I had to follow just going around in circles again and again. So I just never played much of it.
That being said, seeing that is almost enough to want me to get back into gaming.
The one thing that I would personally like, and always have wanted for a long long time with space sims ( a feeling given in the game Unreal 2, which however was not a space sim..), is being able to really get around inside my own ship.. Fairly impractical I know for a single seat fighter, however for the smaller ships with multiple indoor compartments, as well as the much larger ships (cruisers, destroyers, ect..), I have always wanted to be able to move around inside them. Going (seamlessly) from the cockpit controls, getting out of the seat, and being able to move about the ship.
What’s more, being able to do things in the ship, like repair things or just explore, THAT’S what I would love to see.
X Rebirth looks like it has taken a step in that direction, and really, it doesn’t seem like it would be far from impossible to implement in that either… However likely, I would think, the part of the game which is from the cockpit, and the part which lets you walk around inside and explore stations, would likely be separate…
I also love the concept of things you do in the game having flow on effects to the rest of the universe…
I always loved stealing a lot of crap from the MAAS corporation in I-War 2.. Shame that it never actually did cut into their profits… Bastards…!! xD
When they do the PC version of this game… It will very likely make me consider upgrading a new PC, instead of switching over to a laptop for my main computer usage (just to save power..lolerloly…).
It looks very nice for a space sim. Has great concepts of freedom together with cause & effect.
A genre that has mostly dwindled these days… Fortunately the X series has kept on there and provided us with an alternative game which we actually WANT to play!
forget everything...
Forget just about everything I said before…
Just watched this..

Gonna have to spend like $2000 building a killer PC to run this very nicely.. But far out.. Nobody will see or hear from me for 5 more years…. HAHA…xD
got all of x3 ones on linux cant wait
never really got far with them but i do enjoy these types of games. Huge timesink though and ill probably pick this one up too when/if its out on linux(probably a when egosoft is pro linux)
maybe ill actually attempt on getting a real game save going on with this new one
Try Orbiter
If you want a timesink man, try Orbiter – Space Flight Simulator! Gotta invest a lot of time in that one just for learning, but after that, when you’re doing moon and then Mars and then Jupiter flights, it takes up a lot of time, even with time compression settings (Because lets face it.. 8 years to Jupiter in real time…hah!!)
