Scrim 20/5/2008

Pinge's picture

Hi All.

Just to let you know, I have asked who will be available to scrim tomorrow.
I am not sure how many we will get but it could be enough for a match.
We could always scrounge a few from the pubs anyway.
I have offered up our server if you wish to use it or can book a GA server.
If you use ours the password was given to Fuzz. (IM in game I think).

Anyway hope to catch you tomorrow for a bit of light fun and enjoyment.

Cheers
Pinge

7 on 7 action

Really enjoyed the 7 on 7 action thinking this should be the case for all ladder games…..

Yes it was a good night

Yes it was a good night eventually.
Hope the server gave no drama, thats the one I plan to use for the TV of the final.
Good to see your new young guns playing in a match format. Robag & Combat.
7v7 is a different game to 6v6.
I think in some respects it would be good but I think it needs deployable and heavy weapon restrictions.
Enjoyed the night though and we should do it again.

Thanks for asking us to join you.

Cheers

We’ve certainly improved as a team since the first couple of scrims we had… it’s just that you guys have improved more, so well done!

With regard to heavy weapons restrictions: Does anyone agree that in 6v6 that only 1 (or possibly 2) hyperblasters/rocket launchers/gpmgs/obliterators should be allowed? I’m finding a good Strogg defence with 3 hyperblasters set up a bit of a drag, although better players than me might have strategies to bust through a defence like that. I’m not sure how many heavy weapons each team had last night, but we’ve played in games where the strogg just camped at choke points with 4 or even more hyperblasters.

Possibly next season with a competition mod will see this locked down, if W:ET comps are anything to go by. This probably means that field ops will be also limited, as well as vehicles and deployables.

You have certainly improved

You have certainly improved since the early days.
No question there.
I think that you have got better by yards.
For us its a case of picking up a couple of good players and really knuckling down to getting comms and positions right.
I dont have to call every move you make any more.
We have others that will add positions and who is down and where the holes are.
That will change in the next patch though.
When you are gibbed you will either switch to spec your player or back to limbo, so no more calling positions while you lay there.
No radar might be a big change for most teams.
Radar is so important to see where a team is going to attack from.
If that goes the job will become much harder.

Going to be interesting next season.
4 top teams and then our group.
Skullz, E, MaD and aP should do well, s7 should be in the middle then you, Di, pups and us will bring up the other half.
Hope a few more teams join after the patch is out though.
We were lucky this year, cant see us being that lucky again…:)
