CRTs
Interesting reads there n0mad. 2) was very interesting. I’m still on a CRT too, for a similar reason that the CAD guy in the article was – costs way too much to get high end resolution in LCDs. I just can’t justify $300-400 to get a 22” which can only do 1680×1050 while my 21” crt can do 2048×1536. Plus then u have to start worrying about response time. I’m almost onboard with the Dell 24” ultra sharp. Still overpriced though.
So an open question. To all the LCD gamers out there, how do you find it? What response time do you have? Do you compensate for the lack of resolution by just getting two?
And secondly – does anyone sell NEW CRTs anymore? I can see a bunch of several year old CRTs on ebay, but I just don’t trust it. An old CRT starts to get very blurry (thats where mines at these days). I’m looking for either 21” flat CRT (
at 2048x1536
75hz, 1600×1200@85hz+) or a 24” LCD aimed at gamers (low response time) good brightness (don’t think they exist).Or I could just break the bank and buy a 30” Dell or Apple display. They look sweet.
I’ve been using the 17”
I’ve been using the 17” LCD with the laptop for a while now and I gotta say, I’m not getting too much of a difference, apart from the widescreen. But I don’t play at stupidly high resolutions anyway…
I not
