Anyone care to chime in whether a good mouse will make much of a difference? What models are good and cheap? I don't mind using a wired mouse, as it will be only plugged in for gaming anyway.

Turns out I could get it through work for $35, which is less than half rrp I think. It's pretty damn ugly with all those bling-lights (IMHO), but gets good reviews for smoothness and accuracy, so I'll give it a go.

Gaming mouses (mice?)

I’ve never really bothered getting any real gaming setup going. I actually generally play ET:QW slouched on my couch with a Thinkpad T61P balanced precariously on my lap. My cat likes how warm the graphics card vent gets and squeezes in on my lap as well, occassionally causing me to fire uncontrollably when she drops her weight on the trackpad buttons so apologies for when this happens :)

My mouse for this until now has been a portable Logitech infra-red based thing: great little mouse for just working and keeping in a laptop case, not so good for gaming I guess.

But I’m thinking that a proper mouse might be in order to improve my game a little without putting in all that hard work and practice people keep going on about.
