NBA 2K13
Most of you know I’m a big NBA fan… check my steam activity, or previous blog posts re LeQuit. Each year I’ve bought NBA 2K solely for one on one multiplayer. Most years I’ve been disappointed by their inability to get the online part right. Last year they got it much closer to right. But they have so far never got more than 2 players multiplayer right.
UNTIL NOW! This year they have a Quick Team Up option where a minimum of 4 players can play a game where you are randomly assigned a SINGLE player to control from a game that’s going on IRL that day. Shad and I have had a few games and it really works well. You get ratings for how well you play, losing points for being a ball hog, falling over randomly (a guy in one of our games did this… 40+ times lol. Despite being the highest scorer in the game he still got an F. (More after the break)
So.. the point of my post is to drum up some interest for anyone that’s ever had an interest in online gaming, but wanted to give something other than your standard FPS a go. I’ve always loved sports games, I know they’re not everyones cup of tea and that’s ok. But multiplayer sports games… especially where you control only one player, is an interesting concept that’s been around for a while, but is rarely done well.
If you’re interested, chat to me or Shad.
Also… it’s quite reasonably priced on steam – $30. Not bad for a game released a few days ago.

It really does work!
It’s 30 bucks!
I know a few people before they left who, like us, were looking for a team sport where we could all be on the same team… This is it! And it works! it rocks
Further to what fuzz said it randomly picks a team, keeping it interesting, but also players. So in one game you you be the epic point scoring bastard, the next the point guard responsible for dishing assists, or the center lookin to control the boards!
Every game requires different game play, and results in a whole heap of lols!
@Fuzz

Yep all good now. If you’re buying the steam version, you’re all good.
MASSIVE WARNING – DO NOT WALK INTO A STORE AND BUY A COPY OF THIS. The securom on the retail copy is bad… they should have new disks by now with it fixed, but I wouldn’t risk it. Cheapest I’ve seen retail is $60 compared to Steam’s $30 anyway.
Steam it up!
Yep I use my xbox controller. It’s pretty well suited to it.
