Ok so maybe some of us wouldn’t recommend Western Digital. I wouldn’t either, but I guess here is another milestone for the Personal Computer. =p

I would expect other more reputable brands to be flogging their own 2TB drives in the weeks to come. =D

Neither would I. I have to say all of my experience with these drives have been fail. I have a 500 gig sitting on my desk that lasted about 2 months. But thats my experience, perhaps I’m just unlucky.

Rant of the day:
About 4 months ago I needed a new portable HD and I go to harvey norman (already fail) and buy a WD (even more fail).
I get home and plug it in, and it doesnt work, lo and behold. Plug and play drivers wont install. (super fail)
I test it on another persons computer to test compatability. Still fail (Mega FAAIL)
Call tech support at WD and they inform me its faulty (der!) and they tell me to take it back to the store.
The store offers to on the spot exchange for another drive.
I test about four WD’s on the harvey norman computers, all fail. (Mega Super Fail)
Apparently all units failed from the delivery.
Exchanged for a Seagate and paid a little extra to get a 500gig drive.
WIN!

been with Seagate’s since 4GB hard drives were very very schmicko and expensive! =p
Although my old cheap samsung keyboard that seemed to last forever ( ok ok, there were 2 identical ones. :P ) made me abit partial towards their products. Havn’t tried their drives but, I reckon they would be the safer, and cheaper ( i think) alternative to WD’s?
Sure enough WD have held the lead as of late with pumping out the newest, largest, 3.5” standard hard drives.. But with such a rediculous reputation as a reliable product, I can totally understand why panda had a 500GB western digital laying around playing paper weight.. =p

WD = Wonky Drive
Back when I was ripping open computers and fixing client problems you would bet it had something to do with the root section of the HD…
And yep you bet it was a Wonky Drive…..
Seagate drives I must admit I have had sum bad experience with manly due to my system running to hot and them not copping
then again any drive running in 33 C + case would suffer, sum days I used to think maybe if I mounted the drive outside on the window it would be cooler….
Also thought of buying a mini bar fridge for my drives but that’s another story….
I’m currently using a Wonky Drive Stupid A Turbo Animal and yep I know it will bail s00n s0 I also got a Seagate at the same time and swap them over
for O/S’s, s0 wh0 will rain supreme, well I think we all know the answer…..
