Slowly, it all comes together
Well it was nice that an ETQW client for Linux was confirmed, but my problem was whether or not I was going to be able to actually play it.
For a bit of background, my x1600 mobility should technically be up to the task, but Linux drivers for ATI cards have been historically….. shithouse. I was imagining myself matching Fuzz’s 20 FPS on 800×600 res, and just not really enjoying the game much.
But finally ATI have been able to release some Linux drivers with comparable performance to the windows version. In fact, there are reports of running Quake 4/Doom 3 (which use the same engine as ETQW) at up to 10x as fast as previous driver releases.
Nice.

Here's hoping...
That ATi get their act together for real, their poor performance in Linux has steered me away from them in the past. Maybe AMD is having a real influence here. I’m looking forward to seeing these new drivers in the wild, hope they work well for you lt.
WELL...
you could always kick the cat and loose linux!
and then listen to the marketing and go navidia, cause thats the way its ment to be played!
;P
but jokes asside, i really hope i can stand next to you in our ETQW interclan challenges (so you can shoot and kill people while i shoot aimlessly into the vacant space.)
so fingers crossed for you lt!
Agreed
Sounds very positive. Hopefully it works out and we’ll have all of IPX on ET:QW.
