Carmageddon Is the Best

n0mad's picture

I may have been out of line when I mentioned Ultimate Race is better than Carmageddon in any way shape or form even multiplayer,
Gee I miss the fun, What was I thinking, Kazashi was right to haul me through hot coals, therefore in reflection, accept my video reminder

Time for some old IPX games

Love the Carmageddon! Anyone up for trying to get a game going?

Assume we’d need to get it to run on Windows XP (might not be a problem, can’t remember if it was a dos game or early win 95 ish game), plus some IPX emulation (long overdue in a clan named IPX). Hamachi’s probably worth getting running. Then we could play any game that allows you to play on a LAN but not on the net (Duke, Shadow Warrior, anything requiring a license key we may not currently have…)

Also despite our protests over Ultimate Race not being able to compare to Carmageddon, given I’ve never played, that would be worth a shot too. Who’s up for some old time gaming?

Carmageddon has the Turtle Van. Can’t beat that.

Dosbox

Funny you should ask. Ltmon and myself had a game the other day using Dosbox. Here’s where to start: http://teamipx.net/blog/ltmon/2008/08/15/fatal-race-more-dos-game-retro-...

Follow the instructions on getting Dosbox working, and if you don’t still have your old copy of carmageddon1, ask one of us where to get it.

Got the required file from Kazashi and the Wheels of War server is up and running.

Join up and check it out, all of the voting is working so you can go nuts and set it up however you want.
