EA Fucked Up Again.

So those who don’t know, I bought FIFA 13 the other week (March the 26th).

I’ve played like 3 offline games against the AI.

Just received an email from EA saying my account has been permanently banned for breach of TOS.

First thought it was a phishing spam email, but I logged in and sure enough, it’s true.

Fuck you EA.

Yet another reason to stay clear from these guys I think.

Greetings,

I bought FIFA 13 on march 26th while it was on sale at mightyape.co.nz

I have played a few offline games against bots (3 or 4 games) and that’s it as I don’t really have the time for gaming because of university.

I have never played online. (I haven’t even figured out how to yet)

But now, I have received an email saying that my account is in violation of your Terms and Service! No specific infractions were mentioned and because of the fact that I haven’t even played online yet, this is completely unjust and unfair.

I request that this permanent ban be lifted from my account.

Looking forward to a haste response.

Lack of specifics

Lack of specifics is what pissed me off. Here’s their email.

“Dear Customer,
We are contacting you to notify you that we have found your FIFA 13 account, to be in violation of our Terms of Service..
After completing an investigation we have identified that your account performed a number of actions outside of our normal in-game parameters, and upon further investigation we have detected a pattern of play that provides an unfair advantage over other players.
We have permanently blocked your access to the On-line portion of your FIFA 13 Game.
Such action is reserved for the most serious breaches of our Terms of Service, but can also be applied in cases where an account has accumulated a number of violations over a period of time.

I am not at all happy about this response.
I have absolutely no idea about what clause of the ToS I have infringed upon.
It seems to me I have been sent a cookie cutter, copy & paste reply.

“Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. As a valued customer, your feedback is very important to us.”
I feel as if I’m simply being lied to. I do not feel valued at all, in fact, I simply feel downright insulted.

Please advise as to the clause of the ToS that I have infringed, and also the particular incident.

If I do not receive an adequate response, I will be ringing your call centers on Monday morning.

Update!

After being on the phone with them for 1 hour and 29 minutes, my account’s password and recovery questions have been reset, and my account secured. (Turns out my account was hacked. I have 193 hours of FIFA 13 game time lol)

Sent off another email to EA’s account disputes, now awaiting an email.

Phew, 3:40AM, time to sleep. Night IPX.
