Yes ET:QW maps are getting a little bit stale and I kn0w every0ne is sick 0f me saying “lets game 0n island” s0 we need t0 find sum new maps and h0pefully get Hashy back with us – Hashy have U f0und any night maps yet ?

Anyway lets start p0sting sum links here and we can find sum c00l maps t0 ch00se t0 upl0ad t0 the server, maybe a v0te if we get m0re than 2 hehehehehe

Wondering with ATW3: does not having a Tormentor or radar for the Strogg make the last stage too easy? Just swim, and they’ll never find you I would think. I guess that’s a bad way to do it in stopwatch though, it would take some time.

I’ve asked MaD if they want to give this map a shakedown on Tuesday night.

First impressions

Just played it through…

1. It’s a small map, but there’s some complexity. Lots of nice little vantage points, and good snipers are going to be invaluable.
2. The attention to detail is pretty cool. I like how the computer has a display of the hack level on it while you hack: shows the author put some time and thought in.
3. A few glitches. Clipping, and getting stuck between (e.g.) trains and hills and having to respawn. I assume there’ll be some exploits or something, but what maps don’t on release.
4. Pretty intensive on the ol’ graphics card, just the amount of stuff always on screen. I’m probably going to almost have to tune down a bit further.
5. That last fight through to grab the blueprints is going to be hell on the GDF (through the trucks and other obstacles). There’s not too many ways to traverse through, which means mines will be a PITA. Add a hyperblaster trained on a convenient choke point and it’s going to be a bit lemming like. Guess we’ll see how it plays out.

IPX Map Pack

I’m currently putting together an IPX Map Pack with about 30 Maps
but
After playing sum they are a bit small and in BETA form therfore we should try them
first on the IPX Server then I’LL make the IPX Map Pack……..

HP can we install a few maps and put them in rotation on the server ?

I’m just messing around with Mega Textures and seeing if they work from the Pak file with a few special tweaks therfore
making it a one step drop into the base directory. I have a few maps that are not working this way but sum are working well.

Also I’ve created an installer to do this automaticlly but i’ve never been fond of third party free installers therfore I think I’ll
stick to just a rar file that you unrar into the base directoy.

Anyway off to try another few maps but yer I’m up to 30 so far and a few stand outs are;

Map auto-download

net_serverDownload is the mode selector for downloads.
0 = off
1 = client exits and opens si_serverURL
2 = redirect to EXTERNAL web server (ie: another process, or another host)
3 = direct to INTERNAL (embedded HTTP server)

I believe mode 2 requires net_serverDlBaseURL, net_serverDlTable to be set.

It’s worth mentioning that when using the embedded HTTP server, you can also set limits on per-client and global bandwidth consumption for downloads so this should make auto-downloads play real nice with game servers – see net_httpServerPlayerBW and net_httpServerGlobalBW. If you have a 10mbit pipe to Internet, then setting global to 500 would limit map downloads, etc, to a combined max of 500KB/s, or roughly 40-50% of server’s capacity. These controls are excellent, IMO.

Hi All

just bumped into this mod

Dogfighting mod

Features:
Tormentor and Anansi spawn at both team’s bases
Made Anansi/Tormentor respawn instantly
Instant respawn so maps can be played without being in warmup
Default spawn at rear spawn
Optionally show vehicle speed on the HUD (from ETQWPie)
90% shots are controllable by server admins
Bot support (well, kind of…)
