Comp Mod and 1.5 just around the corner
I remember writing a similar title awhile ago…oh wait…Splash is for real this time! After sorting out legal issues, SD are ready to roll out beta’s of 1.5 and the Comp Mod. This is to test out for final bugs before giving the seal of approval and launching the full release. All the information you could want to read is posted on badmans latest blog which can be found here. Give it a good read because you’ll notice that there’s a few bug fixes that we’ve all been waiting for,

I heard it on the grape vine
I heard a rumor, then a few posts, that Vehicles will be banned indoors.
Anyone think this is good or bad ?
I like taking the husky up the stairs, breaks the running to the objective and also
when are they releasing night levels ?
Explosions would look so cool and if it was extra dark that would be c00l……
Anyway,

Still got battle scars from that dam Tank…..

eh
The tank was a pain but I always thought it was a bit of a far cry for people to call that an exploit. Why else would they have put the MG down the bottom of the road if they didn’t expect vehicles to drive in. The issue is more the location of a desecrater on that map, if there was one outside it would have been a bit of a null issue.
I only hope that if they do get rid of vehicles indoors that they also piss of the Icarus indoors.
for me
For me its about realism…
if you could pull a tank indoors in real life… You would! and there sure as truck wouldnt be an imaginary forcefield stopping the vehicle at the door…
it comes down to level design… people will always try to push the boundaries and find “pass the puck” routines (geeze. we do. i for one spend alot of time trying to figure out how to get vehicles to cool vantage points and effective positions) So basicly… if you dont want vehicles inside, design the doors smaller!
tho the icarus inside does sheet me… the sides dont have comparable vehicles and weapons, buts its supposed to be that way . the strogg are supposed to be aliens with alien technology. and Pros and Cons for each team!
its how the game was made, Play it. i hate how people add rules and stuff and make changes!
comps should be, No restrictions… and any number of players on each side!
And speaking of
And speaking of realism
I have been in an ABRAMS tank while she was moving. they are formidable hunks of metal. and when you see one roll over the hill in front of you, heading straight for you. you really do say “holy Truck… i would be toast if this thing wanted me to be. You get that feeling in the pit of your stomach which says, If i was the enemy and this happened in real life…
where am i going with this…
Seeing a tank indoors or rolling up the stairs is one of the few times i get this feeling… i like it cause it is close to realism!
i do think the vehicles should be reassessed/designed.
a tank, like real life should require 4 people to operate it effectively… but be a damn lot harder to take out. they shoudl also have real life characteristics like vaunlerable points… weaker armour in certain positions etc
That would be cool
It’s also like how you can’t use a sniper rifle to shoot through the window of the jeep or the anasi etc. A little more realism in a few spots like that would make a heap of difference.
yeah
the amount of times when ive nailed the cockpit of tormentor or the windsrcreen of an Armadillo…
ive been just around the
ive been just around the corner from splash damages patches before… if i were in PADMAN
true that shad.. i mean,
true that shad.. i mean, they could have put an invisible forcefield around the whole map boundry, but they didnt, just made it so you start dying if you go out too far.. I see no reason to begin using invisible play restricting force fields in the middle of the maps now.. absolute sillyness, bending over forewards for the noobs splash damage are..
edit: on the note of, operating complex vehicles with one person, or not being able to shoot thru cockpit glass.. the unrealism of this being true to an extent, you could always interpret these “flaws” as being, 1) a vehicle from the 2070’s or whatever, is easy to operate…computers..mmm.. i mean, the difference between flying an F15 and an F22 is of much note.. Also, as for shooting people in cockpits.. Ever heard of bullet proof glass?
That being said… If you pitted a 2008 military Humvee against a 2070’s GDF Armadillo, you would be an absolute moron to put money on the armadillo.. I mean, it hasnt got half the torque a real vehicle like that should in real life, NOT to mention in the future..
Half the realism has been lost, either because of stupidity and oversight on the developers behalf, or for balancing issues…
A real helicopter nowadays can take more of a beating then a fking Anansi =p
Damn Striaght!
i reckon a sissy boy can take more of a beating then an anansi!
and yeah… bullet proof glass..
lets just make the next tank outta bullet proof glass!
