So I upgraded my interwebs account: from 40-60gb. They said I “MAY” receive a speed upgrade but as I am peeking the ADSL1 speed limit, it was doubtful!
Our “rollover” and new metering month started on the 2nd Feb (so we’ve been on the new plan/month for 2days)
I started back at work this week after a month off. I’ve have been pretty sick still, so haven’t been around on the computer at home in the evenings…. and the wife’s been using the iPad (3g – so there hasn’t been much using the interwebs at home)

Last night my wife asks, “Can I download some “stuff”?” “Yeah sure” I replied and told her that we’ve got our additional 20gigs to make our lives easier and so we arent shaped all the bloody time!
The current metered usage when she got on was Less than 100mb!
We went to bed! ;)

I woke this morning with the kids, got them breakfast then came into the computer…. I realised the PC & torrents had been left on all night!

I stopped the screen saver to see….

OVER NIGHT, SHE MANAGED TO DOWNLOAD 32,055GIG!

IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?

Depending on your company and what they charge as ‘downloads’. Some companies count uploads as downloads. So when it finished last night and continued to upload, it ate through all of your downloads. Assuming you are using uTorrent, make sure you have these option turned on so this doesnt happen again.

This should stop you from going over your allotted quoter for downloads, and should stop those downloads from uploading to much for to long and using it up.

Nikki and I DL 20-30 gig 2 or 3 times a month.I found it was the uploads that were doing in our cap each month(dont know if you get charged for them).
With my Utorrent I have it set so that there are only 5 active torrents going at once, this seams to limit how much we upload.

Nomad has a good set up for his torrents ask him for his settings.

ok up front, Im not metered for uploads.
I also know how to setup my torrents, and I’ve deliberately opened up my max connections/max torrents and manage them manually etc – cause Im happy with that!

this post was more the “outrage” of my wife DL almost all of our previous quota in 1 night!
I thought maybe 10gig… but 30gig is just beyond comprehension.
