Team IPX radio/podcast

Sha8doW's picture

Just getting a sounding board/thoughts from people re creating a (30minute max) weekly TeamIPX radio show/podcast (using mumble)

Format 3-4regular people with 1-2special guests or rotational line up.
Talking about everything from current events, gaming, science, jokes, stories.

Shit if they guys who make no right answer at the escapist get paid for that unplanned tyrad piece of shit – and get regular viewers, I reckon we could get a decent program!

Well it really depends

We’d need to develop a format/running order for the 30minute program! (you really don’t want to be flying adhoc, nor babbling bulshit for 30 minutes).

So really it’s a case of the following:
Opening credits .5-1min
Introductions and prelude to the content 2-3minutes
Opening header story/article 10min (Content 1)
Background
Discussion
Special guest discussion 10min (Content 2) (could be a review/news/anything really)
Background
Discussion
General discussion Q/A 5minutes
Final & next week2 min
End credits 2 min

my thoughts over special guests would be a member of IPX (I’ll pick crazy_as here cause as a female she could bring something out of our regular context – unless she wants to be a regular, or another team (let’s say someone like pinge who has something to talk about)

I’d estimate that for 3 minutes its probably going to absorbe 3hours of people’s time each week = developing content, pre meetings, circulating content for review, content review (so people can read and be ready to discuss prior to the show) edit/upload etc

Im down

I would be up for this. I pretty much check out a lot of shit any way, so if you need QA or background stuff… well let me know what you need.

I listen to around..

six podcasts a week and am totally in love with the format. Its the radio of the future! minus the music of course, which doesn’t really matter because people nowadays carry their own personalised music library in their pocket (iphones, androids etc).
As far as providing content for this project, I really don’t consider myself an IPX ‘personality’ and therefore think that the talking should be left to the more interesting and well spoken members of the team ie Spud, Robag, Shad, Matt. Not StepUp. I am however fairly media savvy and can thus put together intro music, segment themes etc to be used in the product if required. Let me know.

just came up with a name for the show

Team IPX internet podcast xtream. Get it….

lol

I was looking for tits or some thing, coming from you… but I see what you did there ;P. So for those interested, why not have a brain storm hour or some thing on say… Sunday evening? Make up a Mumble channel and meet at time, throw some ideas around and then post it as a blog (kind of like minutes of a meeting)? Speaking of which, is it at all possible to create a content section titled some thing like “Meeting Minutes”. That way if we ever do have meets for any thing, or the BOD has meetings with info they would like to share etc, then we have a section and not apply points to it (unless you want to of course)?

This is the "forum", well blog... F-it location

For this discussion!

All ideas are valid!

I’d like to see everyone get a chance to participate, either through rotational line up, or as a special guest!
For example: I like to see interviews with the LOL team, interviews with deadite re:his weekly movies, a chance for the ladies of IPX to have their say…
Also rather then chasing people “hey x, it’s your turn to contribute to the podcast, write an article on AB or C. Oh and you’ve got till tomorrow” I’d love to have people contributing ideas… “hey I’ve got an idea for some content: I’d like to hear about people’s views on x, or I’d like to discuss y” about some issues or personal projects which are going on in people’s lives right now… Some examples:
Ltmons speaker project, one of micros millions of projects, a
Tech discussion re fuzzes new setup, I could discuss numerious issues relating to concrete or fishtanks. Then we could reach for even bigger topics like women’s/men’s issues, “sexual harassment in gaming”, renewable energies and climate change (we could get milzy back as a special guest), we could get pinged views on GameOp issues/haxing… And even do a monthly latenight mumble session!

We are online talking about this stuff anyway, we may as well structure it, record it and use it to drum up some attention in relation to IPX!
It’s good for all!

Keep the thoughts comming!
(does anyone even know how to make a podcast/upload one?)

Mumble

Recording could do this for us?

.

Get milzy back? Wouldnt it be easier to have Temperance or the like for a segment on womans issues?

Worth listening too

These guys run one of the most popular podcasts out there.

Blood, yes mumble should do this for us (recording wise) but I have nfi as to the output format, nor why it takes to upload… Or how we could market it (get it in iTunes or advertised somewhere?)
Delta, lol I mentioned milzy to discuss climate change issues cause he always presented the polar opposite to the facts, which weren’t facts in his view.. It always made for good discussion!
And yes thoughts from temperance, crazy_as are welcome to provide some female input… In any topic. I dot want to shoebox anyone… There may be someone who is even more knowledgeable on female issues… >.> deadite? (so don’t think you can’t break stereotypes here people)

Who’d be interested in being involved?

We could do a segment “everybody hates Chris Shad Matt” yeah that sounds better lol ;)

good idea Shad

They can say why they hate me, then I could point out all their flaws.sounds good to me.

Think it’s a great idea. I listen to heaps of podcasts too. Leo Laporte has a whole network of tech podcasts and he’s awesome.

Kevin Smith is doing quite well for himself through them too.

Suggestion – maybe once fortnightly podcast instead of weekly. There’s nothing more annoying as a podcast listener when your favorite podcast misses a week and you have to listen to music on your commute or jog.

-

I would be part of it

Sha8doW's picture

Good suggestion fuzz

Good idea fuzz, expectation mgt

Matt, it’s cause you got such a massive penis…
And the segment calls for no right of reply! ;)

Perhaps we could do podcast while playing games like maybe LFD2 or something. put up the whole thing.

....

You guys will have a whole network of podcasts soon…

Deadites video podcast plays of the week
The official IPX podcast, hosted by Shad, variety of guest hosts on a weekly basis talking about all things from how to build a moat around your house, to how to build a bridge over your moat when you realise you’re now stuck on the wrong side of the moat.
Blood’s podcast of us all playing games. Random funny shit.

And we could call it the “IPX Network”.

Sha8doW's picture

I like that

Name!

Tripsicle98's picture

We could have a Firefighting Podcast :)

Sha8doW's picture

Sha8doW's picture

that rooster teeth

is pretty close to what I had in mind… but I’d prefer ours to be shorter, snappier and a little more focused!

Kazashi's picture

*Thumbs Up*

I like this idea. It’s something I could possibly actually get interested in. Has there been more discussion and development?

Kazashi

Happy for you to get involved
