You read minds...

You must be reading minds.
I have one being delivered either tomorrow or Wednesday.
I have a G9 at the moment and I like it, but this one looked great.
So I got one sent over from the East and I should have it in a day or 2.

Awesome

It really is a nice looking mouse. IPX logo on it would be a perfect finishing touch.

G9 pinge?

I am strongly considering a G9 pinge. How did you find it?

Pinge's picture

And a new picture added...

The G9 is a real odd looking lump, but surprisingly comfortable.
I like it and think its a top mouse.
Been my mouse of choice for a long time.
Dont really like the sensitivity bottons on the top as I hold the mouse in the fingers.
When you press the left mouse button you can then accidentally change the sens.
But its configurable and really nice to use.

I saw the sentinel about 3 weeks ago.
looked the goods and i actually had it delivered today.
It has a really nice feel to it.
Have not plugged it in, but it looks and feels superb.
As good as the G9 at the moment, but thats a bit premature I think.

G9 as well

Same opinion as Pinge: It looks odd but is long term very comfortable. I don’t like the sensitivity or side button placement that much, but I really don’t use either heavily.

The other mouse I would consider now is Microsoft’s Sidewinder model which is a corded/cordless hybrid. A small plug in the top of the mouse connects to a usb cable to either turn it into a corded mouse for fragging, or recharge it when it’s getting low on batteries.

I had a G7 which was

I had a G7 which was wireless.
That was a good mouse.
I never noticed any delays in it and I always had 2 battery packs for it.
I switched to a G5 when that mouse broke but didnt like it.
The G9 was the next one.

While I have used the G9 I have also tried the verbatim Rapier (not bad, wheel mouse is wrong though), Microsoft HABU (Not bad) and Razer Copperhead (not bad).
But I have always gravitated back to the G9 after a short while.

I plugged this sentinel in last night.
Highly configurable.
I find it a real slippery character because I dont rest the whole hand on it.
I just use my fingers to hold it, so it tends to slip away from me.
A bit of sand paper to rough it up will sort that problem out.
Other than that, so far it has a nice feel in the hand.
Slides real smooth.
Highly configurable. relatively easy to work it out, for those that dont read manuals…
Down side at this stage is the location of the side buttons is again too high from the natural position of the thumb.

I shall give it a go in game tonight and see if it has given me that 25% boost to all things BC2…:)

Sha8doW's picture

25% boost

People pressing the q button gave me that already!
Thanks to the pinge’s crew again for that.

How did matts game pad go the other night?

Pinge's picture

Happy

Its not a bad mouse.
Fwd/Back buttons are a tad out of the way for me.
I like the “profile on the run” change button.
The sensitivity buttons are likewise well placed.
It slides nicely across the mat and fits nicely into the hand.
Accuracy is not half bad either.
very stable as a sniper when I drop that sensitivity down.
Just about moves a pixel at a time I reckon.

I have suffered greatly at the hands of CG’s and M60’s.
And spawn camping so n so’s.

But i am enjoying the mouse.

Not sure if I would rate it above the G9 as I think they are both good.

h0w is the Sweat Factor ?
1 Reviewer says he kept having t0 wipe his hand 0n his Jeans as it d0esn’t handle sweat fr0m his palms ?

Als0 h0w quick d0es it change profiles and DPI settings ?

n0mad

Sha8doW's picture

Eqwww grosse!

Swetty palms! Yuck

Pinge's picture

No sweat. Have not

No sweat.
Have not experienced it.
Mind you its got an aircon unit just above it blowing cold air directly onto it and the PC.
So I dont get sweaty palms…:)

Profile changes are a click away.
There are 5 profiles you can set up.
All are colour coded, so you only need to see the colour to know which profile you have running.
Its only a click to change profiles.

dpi is quicker than profile by a few millisecs.

All up I am getting used to it and I am warming to it.
Wheel in BC2 is still useless.
So I have set that scroll to a single line.
Works 90% of the time.

I would give it a 9 I

I would give it a 9 I guess.
I dont like the fwd/back button, but I am getting used to it and its so minor a thing that its not that bad.
I wish it had scroll left and right on the wheel but it doesn’t so no point grumbling.

All up its a good, accurate piece of engineering that satisfies the requirements of accuracy, ease of operation, programmable, comfort and cost.

I would buy it again.
