Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC Server Files Updated Circa March 19

Mar 19, 2010 at 11:20 AM

“We have just distributed a new server version named R7 to the server hosts. Early signs from the hosts are good with 20% less load on the server CPU, improved hit detection, Veteran rank handling is fixed so you should get your M1 Garand back now plus some other fixes to better help the server hosting companies and better management of Punkbuster IDs.”

All dedicated servers are currently patching to the new server build just released by DICE, R7, which has quite a few fixes:

Several common crash fixes. Especially those which have monitoring scripts that rely on the Remote Admin interface should see stability improvements.
PunkBuster can send commands to Remote Admin interface (so ‘pb_sv_task 0 -1 ’ works)
Veteran-rank handling corrected (it was broken in R6 and possibly earlier)

'Battlefield Bad Company 2' DLC Access Code, In-Game Store

Link To Story

When you buy “Battlefield: Bad Company 2” early next month, each new copy will include a “VIP” code which will allow you to access the game’s downloadable content. I spoke with Patrick Bach, the senior producer on “Bad Company 2,” to find out just what sort of DLC plans the developers had in mind. Here’s what he had to say:

“We want people to insert the code they get when they buy the game to get access to [DLC content]. It’s connected to your personal account, more or less, and what we want to do is give you something extra, added value, for that. In the future you will get more content, for free, if you have this VIP code.”

Bach went on to confirm that the system is similar to that of the in-game “Cerberus System” used in “Mass Effect 2,” which also offers free DLC.

Increased fire danger as hot weather hits NSW
Posted: 11/01/2010
A number of total fire bans have been declared across NSW for Tuesday.

More Info

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said high temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds are forecast, increasing the risk of fires.

“Over the past few days, we’ve seen very high temperatures across much of southern Australia and these conditions are heading east towards NSW,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
