Quake Wars Modding: Ideas & Resources

Ok to start off with ill post some resources ive found to help get people started on the SDK, instead of just having to jump in there and spend hours finding everything =p

Ill hold off on pages and pages of mod ideas for now.. Firstly we’ve gotta be grounded in the SDK.. Cant bring any of those ideas to life without the know how to back it up =p

The wiki seems a good place to start:

http://wiki.splashdamage.com/index.php/Main_Page

Free Games and more

Thought I would make up a list of some free games to fill up that awful awful spare time!!

www.silkroadonline.net/ Havnt played this one in well over a year now. Think of it as free, cheap, lean World of Warcraft, but without the noobification that is chained to WoW. I played it for a few months. Becomes the same old repetitious slashing and casting and drinking of potions that I ‘imagine” WoW to be like ( No I swear I have NEVER played World of Warcraft!! Seen it played ONCE on a lower end system, heard about it before most people heard about it.)

http://rigsofrods.blogspot.com/ Read the keysheet and manual .pdf files, and then have fun smashing vehicles up. Havn’t tried its online feature yet, I imagine it to be in the league of San Andreas Multiplayer in terms of how streamlined it is.. It’s just a small project vehicle damage physic simulator, I think? Some might claim it to be a game.. You decide, give it a go.

EDIT: Rigs of Rods!!!

http://rigsofrods.blogspot.com/

Ok so I didnt sleep last night again, and on my browsing through the Orbiter forums I found this.. havnt downloaded it yet, still deciding if its worth the time… It might be a good way to kill some spare time?

EDIT: Hahaha.. Once you get past the frusteration of figuring out controls and getting your footing, its abit of pointless fun hehe.. Like bridge builder I suppose (http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com/)

Should add this to our list ( when we make one =p ) of games/programs to mess around in to waste some spare time that are free… Have a go at flying the planes.. See what happens when you tip it from side to side too quickly ;)

Reading control and introduction .pdf files I really do recommend for this if your prone to frusteration such as myself =p

Peace <3

EDIT: Scroll down a bit for some basic controls ive had to commit to memory to play this “game” =p

Hashy's List O'Links

For starters, fuck buddah. No not the fat bald gold guy…

Decided to make up a list of links of stuff I find useful.. Y’all are welcome to make your own additions… I just would find it handy to have em all listed down somewhere, so here it goes..

http://www.bom.gov.au/ – Australian Bureau of Meteorology. This is where we can help plan SPEARS missions according to what the weather is gonna be like!

http://www.google.com.au/ – Google. Here we can find all the information we need for our SPEARS operations!

http://www.timeanddate.com/ – ?? . Now here, and specifically here: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ we can co-ordinate SPEARS ops internationally!

http://www.wikipedia.org/ – Wikipedia. Our source for information for learning…umm… stuff..

ET:QW on Steam

Ok, soo, I still have steam installed.. Reguardless of the fact that I havnt even tried to play CS:S since i got my mittens on the Quake Wars Demo.. Kind of annoying having it open up everytime i log into windoze… I believe soon enough ill probably delete it altogether..? =o

Anyways, when it just started up for me just abit ago, I get the nice popup from steam updates, and low and behold, its for Quake Wars haha..

Special discount this week, 20% off, sale ends monday.. Was $49.95,now $39.95… USD ofcourse…

Only problem I have with buying things off of Steam, is not getting a hard copy of the game… From what I understand with buying games off Steam, is that you have to download it, and then use the appropriate CD Keys/whatever that they will supply you…
I just think its rediculous payin that money and not gettin the box! =p

WTF is the go with these magnets too…? =|

ET:QW 1.2 Linux Client Released?

Ok.. So I decided to do a search for a Quake Wars Sound Selector…. On the offchance someone had already put some work into one ( similiar to Half Life Sound Selector)…
Sorry but, I think its hilarious playing a game like Counter Strike while playing quotes from Predator such as” RUN!! GO!!! GET TO THE CHOPPER!!!” or the classic “Long Tall Sally”.. In a game of CS(:S), you will usually get a mixed response from your fellow gamers when you start to play wav files over the teamspeak system.. But its the few in the server that cant stop laughing that make it ooh soo worth while ;p

Ohh yeah.. I found this while i did a search for a QW Sound Selector..

http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/11310/Enemy+Territory:+Quake+Wars+Linux+...

Is this the awaited new release for Linux users?

Either way.. I had to make an initial blog post…. Meh…
