WGS- Over! Thankyou!

Thank you everybody, I had a really nice time yesterday evening, and I hope you all enjoyed yourself too!
Kazozza arrived shaved, and over the course of the evening, proceeded to removed all traces of hair in true olympic swimming champion style.
Kazashi was the first to get the crop. Doodizm raised over $1000, so the beard had to go. Some of you will enjoy the photos of that one, once they are ready =p
I was the next to go.. Had grown that hair for like, 9-10 months aswell! No more irritating sweat beads hanging off the end of my fringe, poking me in the eye.. If I still can’t aim, then that wouldn’t be a very good excuse. My “beard” went aswell, after Kazozza had taken a few snaps, some eluded to the idea that stage, If I had some robes and a towel wrapped around my head, I could have easily ended up in guatemala bay detention.. haha, very funny.

Those of you interested in knowing what the hell I did to my computer, well..
Basically, don’t try installing Nforce 4 chipset drivers on an Nforce 3 board =p

Worlds Greatest Shave - Saturday 15th March 2008

Saturday 15th March. Location is “Kazashi’s old place”. If you need more detailed info on the location, drop me a line.

Ozza and Fuzz, would very much like to see both of you there, yourselves and your partners are welcome, but I do understand if you cannot attend due to distance/short notice issues.

There should be pizza and soft drinks for our event.. I hope everybody is still on good terms with Dominoes..?

Regular Prac Session?

With one win on the board and with us positioned moderately in the ladder, it’s time to start up our challenging. As such, I suggest we standardise our practice time. Since we seem to play most games on a Weekend any way, I propose that we define a regular practice schedule in between. Wednesday suits me well and we all seem to have a preference for an earlier start time during the week, so how about 8:30pm?

I’m not suggesting that people must commit to attending every practice. If we are short on numbers we can invite others in (as we did on Friday) or just join a Pub. When we are looking to practice with another team we can still put up a challenge page and confirm numbers. If we have a regular time, I’m happy to start liaising with some of the other teams to get a little practice schedule going – and having a regular time would make it a lot easier to organise.

Thoughts?

TeamIPX planned downtime 5th March

Hey all,

I’ll be taking the site offline from 4pm to 6pm tonight to install security fixes and upgrade some modules. Some users will probably still be able to access the site during this period, but please don’t. I’ll post here when everything is upgraded.

Sha8doW and Oz will be doing some testing this evening to ensure the upgrades went smoothly, but if anyone else notices something broke, please comment here.

New betas for all

Linked article details the “Competition Mod” beta and the 1.5 upgrade beta, just released.

The competition mod mainly adds new cvars to enable various “artificial” restrictions on the game in whatever way a tournament organiser decides. This will probably be a step up on the current system at GA (“Just don’t get in that desecrator!”), but I’m not sure if I trust them to balance the game well for a 6v6 match. We’ll see….

The 1.5 beta has some interesting changes:
* No more voice warning of enemy arty coming down on your head
* Fixed ranks above Supreme Commander displaying as ##### or emptyname ….. yeah, I was just gonna complain about that one
* Fixed the ‘Press F3 to Ready Up’ tooltip not always displaying – finally, it’s been annoying waiting for this in pubs, ppl should ready up quicker now
* Fixed exploit that allowed GDF to get past Strogg Energy Shields …. does this mean the “Outskirts” objective-skipping is gone?
* Fixed being able to complete certain objectives at a distance… wish I knew about this one earlier
* Fixed the ‘Aborting Bombardment’ VO not playing when the Airstrike/Violator beacon is in an invalid location… another annoyance gone

And “Known issues”
* The game will not start for users running the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Beta

This beta probably won’t be running on many (if any) public servers, so I’m probably not going to install.

Weird how they are beta-ing this update, but no others.

Comp Mod and 1.5 just around the corner

I remember writing a similar title awhile ago…oh wait…Splash is for real this time! After sorting out legal issues, SD are ready to roll out beta’s of 1.5 and the Comp Mod. This is to test out for final bugs before giving the seal of approval and launching the full release. All the information you could want to read is posted on badmans latest blog which can be found here. Give it a good read because you’ll notice that there’s a few bug fixes that we’ve all been waiting for,
